Strategy Guide: BArch / BAG / GiBArch / BAM!

The names of these armies come from the main troops which form their backbone, Barbarians and Archers with Goblins and Minions added into the army compositions. Their purpose is to use a minimal amount of resources and time to train an army that is effective for use in 10-20 minutes. These armies are considered farming armies, but can be used to get an easy 50% allowing you do trophy hunt. Many people say that these armies are only good for collector raids, but that is not true! With the correct deployment and strategy you can take on some pretty difficult bases with all resources in the storages. Please keep in mind this is a "guide" and is meant to give you a starting point for the use of these strategies.

  • Before going on a raid it is recommended you queue up your barracks and spell collector with additional troops and spells so that they start building during your raids.

  • For some added power request Giants or Wizards for Clan Castle troops. Both can be useful for distracting or destroying defenses.

  • You should always first lure the Heroes to take them out if there are any. Also, ALWAYS check for Clan Castle troops as they can really ruin your raid. Once both of these are taken out, it is resource collecting time!

  • Don't use your Minions if you don't have to as they cost Dark Elixir.

  • There is no need to deploy all of your troops right away. Only deploy what you need to!

  • Look for bases that will cover the cost of the Minions. If you can wait a little, find a base that you will profit from with Dark Elixir.

BArching

The idea is that you want to find bases with exposed Elixir Collectors and Gold Mines that have not been looted yet. The ideal trophy range will vary depending on your Town Hall level. The best way to BArch for resources is to place down 4-5 Barbarians on each Elixir Collector/Gold Mine followed by a few Archers behind the Barbarians. If the base does not have a lot of uncollected resources but has very exposed storages then you want to spread out a few Barbarians to distract Mortars and then send in waves of Barbarians and Archers to where the storages are.

BAG

BAG is the short form for the Barbarians, Archers and Goblins army composition. This strategy is essentially the same as BArch just adding Goblins into the mix of troops. Goblins are faster and do more damage to resource collectors and storages than Barbarians, but have less Hit Points.

GiBArch

The GiBArch army is a "heavy duty" version of the BArch attack designed to punch through the outer defenses of base to gain access to its storages. To do this you need to substitute a fairly large group of Giants and some Wall Breakers into your standard BArch army. Select your point of entry into the core of the base where the storages are located. Some bases may require multiple entry points depending on storage locations and wall layout. Deploy your Giants first to soak up damage from defenses followed by Wall Breakers to breach the walls. A Heal and or Rage Spell may be used to assist your Giants if needed. Barbarians and Archers should then be deployed to help destroy defenses and storages. As an option you may want to try taking some Goblins in your army as they will target resource buildings rather than the closest buildings.

BAM!

The BAM army consists of Barbarians, Archers, and Minions. Finding the best base to attack is key with the BAM strategy. Search for bases with over 200 DE to cover the costs of your Minions. If the Air Defenses are on the outer edge or upgrading, the Minions will be able to survive for much longer and do much better when they are released. Try not to launch all your minions in a small area all at one time as a single air mine will take out the entire group at once. Other things to check for are the strength of other towers that can shoot air units such as Archer Towers, Wizards Towers and Teslas. If these buildings are under-leveled, on the outer edge of base, or upgrading, your Minions will have a much easier time destroying the base. Be very careful of stronger Wizard Towers as they can destroy all your Minions in a few shots. Also look out for X-bows that are set on ground and air.

Collector Base:

If the base you have selected is a simple base where all of the resources are in the Gold Mines and Elixir Collectors, send in some Barbarians first and then some Archers behind to destroy the collectors. In these types of bases, it is not needed to take out defenses and the use of Minions should be avoided. The only case when the use of Minions are needed in these type of bases are when there are collectors that are only defended by a Cannon or Mortar. If this is the case, the Minion(s) will destroy that collector without even being shot at! Hopefully you are able to destroy all of the collectors without the use of Minions. Of course, there is no need to waste any spells on these type of bases as they are generally really easy to loot. Once you have taken the loot, end the battle or go for 50% to maintain your trophy count and collect the league loot bonus!

Storage Base:

Unfortunately, all bases are not easy collector bases, so sometimes you will have to use lots of troops to break into the center and take all the resources. Taking 2-3 Giants and 3-4 Wall Breakers can sometimes mean the difference between success and utter failure when attacking a storage base! Use the Wall Breakers to break into air defense compartments and the Giants to absorb damage for your primary loot collecting troops during your main attack!

As always, lure Heroes, check for Clan Castle troops, etc. Next select the side you want to attack from. Do this by looking for the side with the most air defense towers, especially if there are Air Defenses and Wizard Towers near the edge of the base that can be easily destroyed. Once the side is selected, lay down a line of Barbarians followed by Archers behind to destroy the outer buildings. Occasionally send in more Barbarians and Archers until you are able to soften up and take out the first line of defense and hopefully the Air Defenses. Note, sometimes you will want to attack more than 1 side so you can take out multiple exposed Air Defenses at once, but the final push should only be from 1 side. Next, deploy a thick line of Barbarians followed by almost all of your Archers. This is a good time to drop a Barbarian King or Clan Castle troops to start breaking through the walls and taking out / distracting the secondary defenses. Follow this line by 2 or 3 Minions to check for Air Bombs. Also, if your ground troops are struggling to get in, you can drop a Rage Spell to help get troops into the center of the base. Once the ground troops are deeper into base, and the air is clear of traps, it is time to unleash your Minions. Start by sending in a wave of Minions. Be sure to target the center of the base so they will get to the resources quicker. If you need to, drop a Rage Spell to help out the Minions and any other remaining troops in the area.
