Strategy Guide: Hog Riders / GoHo

For this attack strategy it is required that your Hog Riders be level 3 or above. Level 1 and 2 Hog Riders are instantly killed by a Giant Bomb, while level 3+ require a second before being killed. Using level 1 or 2 Hogs Riders is too risky to lose an entire army to a single Giant Bomb blast. Please keep in mind this is a "guide" and is meant to give you a starting point for the use of these strategies.

  • Look for a compact base with lots of small sections, making it easy to determine where any Giant Bombs or Spring Traps may be located.

  • ALWAYS lure out the Clan Castle troops before you start to deploy the rest of your army. NEVER deploy your Hog Riders in an attack without luring and COMPLETELY killing the Clan Castle troops first.

  • ALWAYS locate the empty 2x2 and 2x4 spots in the base. These spots are possible single and double Giant Bomb locations. If possible trigger these bombs with a single Hog Rider prior to the main attack.

  • ONLY use Healing spells for your Hog Riders. NEVER take Rage spells. A well placed Healing spell helps them much more than a Rage spell can. For the last spell slot provided by the Dark Spell Factory, take a Poison Spell for dealing with Clan Castle troops or Ground Skeleton Traps.

  • ALWAYS put your Healing spell in front of the Hog Riders, where you anticipate they will head. Hog Riders will always attack the defensive building which is closest to them.

  • NEVER deploy your Barbarian King or Archer Queen to deal with the Clan Castle troops UNLESS the troops which you brought with you were not enough to deal with the Clan Castle troops. In this case, you can also deploy a hero to help finish them off.

Before starting your attack you need to locate any possible single and double Giant Bomb locations, a place to lure and kill Clan Castle troops and the location of the enemy Heroes.

Keep a close eye out for open 2x4 openings between defenses as they could contain a Double Giant Bomb which will kill ANY level Hog Rider EVEN UNDER A HEAL SPELL! If the potential Double Bomb position cannot be pre-triggered before the main attack, try to plan a hog pathing strategy that will minimize the impact, only trigger one bomb at a time, or pick another attack strategy!

Hog Riders can be deployed as a single group, two finger drop, or as a wall along one side of the base. Your deployment strategy must consider defensive building alignment, trap positions, and overall base shape. Your drop type and location has an enormous impact to the success of the attack!

If you can, set the place to lure the Clan Castle troops in a way so the Hog Riders will also be deployed from the same spot. By doing this, you will assure the remaining troops used to kill the Clan Castle troops will be protected and they will keep cleaning up the garbage buildings.

Hog Riders

After you have dealt with the Clan Castle troops, you can start to deploy the Hog Riders. How you deploy them is based on the arrangement of the defenses within the opponent's base. Hog Riders NEED to be placed on the opposite side from where the defending Heroes are, so that when the Hog Riders reach the other side of the base and finish the defenses, they will also deal with the Heroes. Attempt to pre-heal the locations where Giant Bombs are suspected as a single Giant Bomb will take your Hog Riders down to <10% health where a single Mortar or Wizard Tower blast will destroy the pack!

GoHo

This attack is meant for TH9’s and above. After you have dealt with the Clan Castle troops, the next step is to take care of the enemy Archer Queen. As the name of the strategy implies, you will use a Golem to lure the Archer Queen to a location where you can kill her with one of your Heroes. If the AQ is positioned behind a walled compartment, this will usually involve taking 2-4 Wall Breakers to deploy after your Golem is drawing fire from defenses and the enemy Archer Queen. If the enemy Archer Queen is in a position to jump completely out of the wall sections, wait, and deploy your Barbarian King (with ability) next to her for the kill.

Note: Your Golem is a tanking machine! Take full advantage by deploying your Hogs Riders behind the Golem once the enemy Archer Queen is targeted by your Heroes!

Once you deploy your Hog Riders you will need to put your Healing spells in front of them where you anticipate they will head. Hog Riders will always attack the closest defensive building to them.
