Strategy Guide: GoViz / GoVaHo / GoVaLo

The name of these armies comes from the 3 main troops which form their backbone, Golems, Valkyries and either Wizards, Hog Riders or Balloons. Even if the army consists mainly of these troops combinations, it also has other troops in smaller numbers to help support them. Please keep in mind this is a "guide" and is meant to give you a starting point for the use of these strategies.

  • Decide whether to lure the enemy Clan Castle troops out or destroy them during the attack. It is always preferable to kill the enemy Clan Castle troops before launching your main attack; however, if the Clan Castle pull requires more than 15 troop spaces it may be worthwhile to launch Wizards directly behind your main attack (once the Clan Castle is triggered) with a Rage Spell to eliminate the enemy Clan Castle troops.

  • Do not take Wizards as your Clan Castle troops! They need to be spread out so it is better to have them as normal troops and have full control of how many are deployed and where.

  • Wall Breakers are can be critical for TH8 and TH9 attacks. Remember that a single Mortar or Wizard Tower shot can take out a group of Wall Breakers so try to stagger them in groups of 2 and launch them in between Mortar drops and directly adjacent to Golems to prevent splash damage from wiping them out!

  • Surviving Wizards are often the key to a 3 star attack. Keep 2-3 wizards in reserve until the attack unfolds. Deploy them when defenses target your main troops to destroy outside buildings or a final defensive structure.

The design of the enemy base will determine the best type of Valkyrie attack to use. GoViz works best on bases with a few large compartments. GoVaHo works well against bases with lots of small compartments. GoVaLo is the best option when Air Defenses are clustered together in the core. Keep in mind that Valkyries are fast and deal out lots of splash damage quickly, but need to stay on the move to avoid traps and splash damage from defenses.

Note: Valkyries have a first target priority of building "clusters" containing 2-4 buildings directly touching each other and Heroes as a second target priority. Keep this in mind when deploying Valkyries as centralized Heroes and building "clusters" can draw Valkyries to a desired target.

Lure Clan Castle Troops:

The first thing you need to take care of when you attack with these strategies is the defender's Clan Castle troops. After you have lured the troops into a corner, you can either surround them with Archers and Wizards or use a Poison spell to kill them.

Lure the Clan Castle troops to a corner that is out of range of defenses and is behind a main deployment point for a Golem (to allow Clan Castle kill cleanup troops to funnel the main attack on that side).

Overrun Clan Castle Troops:

Having decided not to lure out the Clan Castle troops means you can skip ahead to the deployment of your main attack. When the Clan Castle troops come out to fight, you will need to drop a Rage and/or Poison spell on the area where they are attacking your troops to help quickly destroy them.

GoViz

After you have dealt with the Clan Castle troops(either killing them or ignoring them), it's time to deploy the army. In the GoWiVa attack strategy, you do this by deciding on a line which you want to start your attack from. After you decided your line of attack, you will drop 1 Golem on each end of the line to target a perimeter defense followed by Wizards directly behind your Golems to clear outside buildings for the purpose of funneling Valkyries, Heroes, and additional Wizards into the center of the base. 2-3 Wall Breakers should be used at each Golem drop point to break into multiple defensive compartments. After the funnel is set, deploy your Valkyries and Heroes and additional Wizards in the middle part of the primary attack line. By doing this, there will be NO distraction for the Valkyries and Heroes and they will head right into the center of the base.

After your troops have entered the initial compartments of the base it is time for you to drop your Jump Spell to connect your troops to the central area where the Town Hall is. Once in the central area of the base, you will want to drop additional spells, like Rage and Healing, and or use Hero powers to quickly destroy the defenses and the enemy Town Hall.

GoVaHo

Once your main group of troops have smashed there way into the core of the enemy base its time to deploy your Hog Riders. The base's remaining defenses should be distracted by your Golems, Valkyries and Heroes. Hog Riders can be deployed against the remaining defenses in one large pack or surgically. A large pack of Hog Riders works best against a cluster of defenses and should be aided by a Healing spell. A surgical approach should be used if the defenses are spread over a wide area of the base. Drop the Hog Riders in groups of 2-3 on each defense that has targeted your main group of troops.

GoVaLo

This strategy works best when the enemy's Air Defenses are clustered near or in the core of the base. Once your main group of troops have taken out the Air Defenses its time to deploy your Balloons. Balloons should be deployed in small numbers against the remaining defenses. A single balloon is sufficient against a Mortar or Cannon, where as 2-3 will be needed to destroy Wizard and Archer Towers. The use of Haste or Rage spells can be very helpful to speed your Balloons from defense to defense.
